About this beer
Lambiek Fabriek’s Brett-Elle is a traditionally blended 1, 2 & 3 old lambic—a spontaneously fermented beer aged in oak barrels and bottled without filtration or pasteurization. Weighing in at 6.3% ABV and packaged in 750ml bottles (approximately 23.7 ounces or one pint & 9.4 fl oz), this specialty lambic features a simple ingredient list of water, barley malt, wheat, and hops. The label itself presents a striking, split design: a golden yellow half contrasted against a muted tan, topped with a circular gold seal proclaiming a “specialty guarantee.” Below, a whimsical illustration depicts what appears to be a surgical instrument, nodding perhaps to the brewery’s tagline, “No brett, no glory” and the beer’s complex, wild fermentation.
This lambic is intended to be consumed within five years of bottling, and cool, around 7°C (45°F) to best experience its character. It carries the standard warnings regarding alcohol consumption, including state-specific cautions, and is a product of Belgium imported by Winter Dog Cellars in Fairfax, Virginia. The beer’s provenance is clearly stated: brewed and bottled by Lambiek Fabriek, in Eugène Ghijssstraat 71, 1600 Sint Pieters Leeuw, Belgium.
